Abstract

750,587. Fire escape apparatus. SVENSSON, G. A. Aug. 17, 1954, No. 23858/54. Class 78 (2). A rescue apparatus consists of a rope drum mounted in frame 1 for attachment to a wall by bracket 2 and a fluid pressure brake 17 for damping the lowering of a person on the rope, said brake comprising a gear pump 10, 11, the delivery side of which actuates a piston 16 which engages said brake disc 17 with a force proportional to the speed of unwinding. As shown, arm 5 is slidable on shaft 4 so that said drum is braked between the two discs 17, 19. The fluid circuit driven by the gear pump operated by the drum 5, has an adjustable aperture (not shown). An additional brake rope 24 applies pressure to disc 17 through pivoted lever 22 and pressure rod 21. Handle 20 permits rewinding.
