Abstract
748,738. Soldering. VEREINIGTE DEUTSCHE METALLWERKE AKT.-GES. Dec. 8, 1953 [Dec. 18, 1952], No. 34168/53. Class 83 (4). A hand solder consisting of eutectic copperphosphorus alloy is formed into a flexible body or paste by powdering and mixing with a binding substance or enclosing in a carrier. The powdered solder 2, Fig. 1, and the binding substance 3 may bo applied to a flexible carrier rod 1. The powdered solder 2, may be enclosed in a seamless tube 6, Fig. 4, a seamed metal tube 8, Fig. 7, or in twisted wires 10, Fig. 9, or mixed and compressed with a binding substance to form a flexible rod. The carrier members may be natural or synthetic plastics such as colophony or metals such as silver solder and copper, the necessary adjustment to the proportion of phosphorus being made if copper is used. The carrier members or the binding substance may consist of or have as a constituent, a flux such as waterglass, a substance giving out heat such as a mixture of aluminium powder and iron oxide a substance which generates a protective gas such as asphalt or bitumen, or substances which form during soldering a supporting skeleton such as methyl silicone which forms a silica skeleton or a mixture of asphalt or bitumen with alumina which forms a carbonaceous skeleton.
