Abstract

PURPOSE: The raw material of the flux for welding, which prevents the segregation of metallic powder and can obtain superior joint strength, prepared by specifying the particle distribution of high-melting-point-metallic-powder for use of raw meterial.
CONSTITUTION: In the case that such metallic powder as Cr, Mo, Zr, Ti, B, V, W, etc., with melting point above 1600°C, is used as the raw material of the flux for the covered electrode, etc., the particle distribution of this metallic powder is specified as follows; above 80 wt.% is the fine powder with the particle size under 149μ, and under 70 wt.% is the fine powder with the particle size under 40μ; and the carbon content is specified to be under 0.1% against this metallic powder. The melting speed is thus quickened by micronizing the particle size of the metallic powder, so that the danger of generation of the interposition is prevented, even in the case that the metallic powder with melting point above 1600°C is employed; therefore, the stable molten metal can be obtained.
