Abstract

748,711. Rectifying. LICENTIA PATENTVERWALTUNGS-GES, July 9, 1953 [July 18, 1952], No. 19065/53. Class 38 (2). A heavy current mechanical contact rectifier has connected in parallel with each contact set a germanium rectifier, so that the germanium rectifiers carry current during the commutation periods while the contacts are open, the contacts being closed and carrying current during the remainder of the time. Because of their high blocking voltage only one germanium rectifier is needed with each contact set. No switching chokes are needed. The use of the invention in three-phase bridge systems is referred to.
