Abstract

1,020,761. Converting. BROWN, BOVERI & CO. Ltd. Oct. 19, 1962 [Oct. 21, 1961], No. 39600/62. Heading H2F. In a rectifying arrangement two groups of rectifiers are used, one group being controlled and the other group being uncontrolled, and connected through switches so that above half the maximum voltage both groups are in series on the D.C. side, below that only the controlled group is used and during the switching the two groups are temporarily in parallel. In the Figure, transformer secondaries 1b and 1c respectively supply the bi-phase arrangements having controlled rectifiers 3, 5 and uncontrolled rectifiers 2, 4. Inductances 7, 6 are included as shown. Switches 8, 9, 10 may be operated by a cam arrangement. In another embodiment (Fig. 2, not shown), two loads are supplied through bridge connected rectifiers.
