Abstract

748,240. Side-delivery rakes. BAMFORDS, Ltd. Nov. 25, 1954 [Dec. 2, 1953], No. 33423/53. Class 6 (3). An agricultural machine comprises for sideraking purposes a frame adapted to support a row of raking wheels with their axes of rotation inclined to the direction of advancement of the machine, one or more of the wheels which are foremost in this direction being capable of lateral displacement to a supplementary frame for swath-turning purposes. When used as a side-delivery rake, the machine comprises raking wheels 18 pivotally mounted in bearings 22 on the frame member 15 so as to allow their independent vertical movement relative to the machine frame, such movement being controlled by springs 23. Bearings 22 are provided on the supplementary frame member 16 for the purpose of carrying the raking wheels 18a in their displaced positions. Ground wheels 30, 31 and 32 are so placed as to ensure the machine's stability during either method of working, steering being transmitted from 31 to 32 via the linkage 39. The raking wheels may be mounted for vertical sliding movement relative to the machine frame as described in Specification 748,259. Specification 712,992 is referred to in the Provisional Specification.
