Abstract

746,572. Stud and socket fastenings. UNITED - CARR FASTENER CORPORATION. June 11, 1954 [June 12, 1953], No. 17316/54. Class 44. A snap fastener socket 10 comprises a hollow body having a stud-receiving cavity 20 formed by a base 16 and a peripheral upstanding wall 18 disposed on the base, the wall having an aperture 32 on one side of the body and a recess 42 in the exterior of the wall on the other side of the body, and a spring 24 assembled about the exterior of the wall, the spring having a portion 34 disposed in the aperture and projecting into the stud-receiving cavity and a portion into engagement in the recess. As shown, the wall 18 is formed with a flange 22, below which is formed the recess 42 which extends a substantial distance circumferentially, merging gradually into the socket wall 2. The portion 34 of the spring 24 which is substantially straight is additionally supported on a shelf 46, end portions 38 of the spring engaging the recess 42. The base 16 is attachable to a sheet 12 by means of a capped rivet 28.
