Abstract
724,626. Snap fasteners. UNITED-CARR FASTENER CORPORATION. July 14, 1953 [Aug. 2, 1952], No. 19582/53. Class 44. A " three-side-lock " snap fastener socket 10 comprises a hollow body having an opening 20 to receive a shouldered stud 14, spring means 32 disposed about the exterior of the body and having a portion 34 extending across an edge of the opening on the exterior of one side of the socket for snapping engagement with the stud 14, and means (40) on the opposite side of the socket for engaging the inserted stud so as to prevent disengagement of the stud from the socket by a separating force applied on the other side. The portion 34 of the spring is supported by a lip 28 formed on a cut-away portion of the peripheral wall 18 of the socket. The rest of the wall has on its upper edge a peripheral flange 30 provided with a tongue 38 which is curled round the end portions 36 of the spring. The stud 14 is engaged in the socket 10 as shown in Fig. 4 by first inserting the stud shoulder behind an embossed detent 40 in the socket.
