Abstract

745,929. Erecting buildings. BRUCE, R. May 13, 1954 [May 13, 1953], No. 13407/53. Class 20(1). [Also in Group V] In a method of building, concrete wall panels 1 are formed in a mould with removable shuttering 6, 7 and threaded ferrules 11 secured to the base by screw threaded bolts 15 passing through it so that, when the shuttering 6, 7 is removed, after the panel has hardened, the base 4 of the mould with the panel attached may be hoisted into position on the wall being built, after which the base is detached from the panel by removing the bolts 15 leaving the ferrules 14 embedded in the panel. The mould base consists of upper and lower floors 3, 4 made rigid by joists 5 and the shuttering 6, 7 is recessed to receive floor 3 and is secured to adjacent joists 5 by bolts 8. Packing pieces 12 are interposed between shuttering 7 and the joists. Holes 10 are formed between shuttering 7 and floor 3 for steel loops 11, Fig. 4, which are embedded in the panel for securing it to adjacent panels in the building. As shown, the dividing walls of each room are erected before the base 4 with the panel attached is hoisted into position, the base having eye bolts 13 for engagement by the sling of a crane. Pairs of panels may be used to form double walls and inner dividing walls may be formed from these panels. Stiffening members may be screwed into the ferrules and secured to the adjacent floor or roof.
