A locking device for the hydraulic lift arms 2 of a tractor comprises a frame 5 pivoted on the tractor frame and which supports the arms 2 when in the raised position, slots 8 in the frame engaging pins 9 on the lift arms. The frame is moved by means of a resilient rod 10 which engages a catch 12 and which will retain the frame in its raised position to allow the arms 2 to swing upwards and engage the frame.
