Abstract
745,233. Perforating-machines; fur skins or pelts. MESSERLI, H. June 11, 1953 [May 23, 1953], No. 16122/53. Classes 31 (2) and 76. A machine for cutting slits 102-105 in a fur skin or pelt 101 comprises means for clamping the skin &c. above the pins of a pin carrier, and a knife carrier movable in such a manner that the knives, which are in two rows staggered relatively to each other, cut slits in the skin from the hairless side thereof. In the form shown in Fig. 2, the skin is clamped above the pins 122 of a pin carrier 121 by means of clamps 111 co-operating with a table 110. The skin is also clamped by means of cam-operated spring-influenced rollers 126 which press the skin against the faces 123 of members 124. Slits are cut in the skin by means of two staggered rows of knives 128a carried by a camoperated punch 127. To obtain elongated slits, the table 110 is moved in the direction of the arrow during the cutting operation. In a modification, Fig. 3, pins 146 are carried by a roller 145 and slitting knives 141 by a roller 142. The rollers are adapted to be moved apart in order that the skin may be clamped and to be moved in the direction of the arrow during the cutting operation in order that elongated slits may be obtained. A guard 147 and stripper members 148, 149 are provided.
