Abstract

744,099. Batteries. BRITISH FIBRAK SEPARATOR CO., Ltd., DOWSE, J., and BOOTH, F. June 18, 1954 [Aug. 25, 1953], No. 23433/53. Class 53. The edges 5 of a ribbed separator are folded over and pressed flat as shown in Fig. 2, the outer surface of the folded portion lying in the plane containing the tops of the ribs 2. The height of the ribs may be a multiple of the thickness of the sheet so that the margins may be folded several times as shown in Fig. 7, the outer surface 13 of the folded margin lying in the plane of the tops of the ribs 2. To facilitate folding the sheet may be provided with depressions 4, 6 at the folding points as shown in Fig. 5. Fig. 8 shows a modification in which the folded part of the margin 5 lies on the side of the sheet opposite to the ribs 2 and lies in the plane of the unribbed surface of the sheet which is depressed at 15 so that the surface 12 lies in the plane of the ribs 2. The margin may be provided with a second fold as in Fig. 7. Fig. 9 shows a further modification in which the folded margin is itself provided with ribs 16 lying in the plane of the ribs 2.
