Abstract

743,009. Hand saws. WELLS, B. May 31. 1954 [April 7, 1953], No. 9422/53. Class 61 The handle 6 of a saw is detachable from the frame 1 and pivotally carries locking and tensioning means 12, the arrangement being such that movement of the means 12 in one direction draws and retains the handle on to the frame and also tensions and locks the blade in position. As shown in Fig. 4 the handle is slotted at 5 to receive the frame and has a downward extension 7 having a slot 8 into which project studs 9 on which the means 12, in the form of a lever, is pivoted. A slot 10 between the studs permits passage of the saw blade 3 and a slot for the same purpose is provided at the adjacent end of the lever 12. Assembly of the parts is effected by fitting the lever 12 over the studs 9, and fitting the blade within a slot 2 in that end of the frame remote from the handle. The frame is then passed into the slot 5 and the blade fitted into the slotted hooked part 5a of the lever as shown in Fig. 2, the lever being subsequently swung into the operative position, Fig. 1. The studs 4 of the blade upon which the tension is exerted may be removably mounted by forming them with slots 18, Fig. 11, by which they can enter kevhole openings in the blade. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 667,605.
