Abstract

517,883. Draughting-machines. TRYTHALL, W. C. Aug. 13, 1938, Nos. 23896/38 and 22260/39. [Class 97 (iii)] In a draughting machine the drawing head carrying the straight edges is provided with a spring-controlled movable member having a catch adapted to engage automatically with perforations or notches in a circular locating member, the movable member carrying a thumb piece adapted to be moved into position in which it causes the movable member to become firmly secured to the locating member with the catch in disengaged position. As shown in Figs. 1 and 3 (23896/38) the rotatable member 1 carrying the straight edges 1<11> is connected by a pin 6 with a cover 7 in which is pivoted at 8 the spring- controlled movable member 9 having catches 11 adapted to engage notches 5 in a locating member 4 secured to the pulley 2. To secure the rotatable member 1 at positions intermediate of the notches 5 the thumb piece 10 of the rocking member 9 is turned about its oval trunnions 12 causing the tail end of the movable rocking member 9 to press by means of a stud 15 on to the locating member 4. In the form shown in Fig. 1 (22260/39), the movable member comprises a head 11<1>, teeth 11 and rods 25 slidable in guides in the cover 7. The other end of the slidable member is connected to a plate 27<1> on which is mounted a clamp 28 having claws 29 adapted on operation of a thumb screw 31, 30 to grip the locating plate 4.
