Abstract
584,365. Scythes. SANDHOLT, H. Jan. 3, 1940, No. 172. Convention date, Feb. 4, 1939. [Class 6 (iii)] A scythe has a holder 1 formed by folding a metal plate as shown in cross-section in Fig. 4 or of two plates welded together, so that a groove is formed to receive a removable blade 5 which is retained in position by a springy blade 8. A split sleeve 2, in which a handle is fastened by means of a clamping screw 4, is connected to the holder. The blade is held in position by a pin 6 on the holder taking into a recess in the blade and by the blade 8 at the end of the blade which spring engages the underside of the sleeve 2.
