742,633. Diaphragm pumps. GILKES & GORDON Ltd., G., and CREWDSON, E. Nov. 25, 1953, No. 32746/53. Class 102(1). [Also in Group XXIX] A non-return inlet valve in a diaphragm pump operable on the displacement of liquid between a diaphragm 11, Fig. 5, and a piston 8 by a crank 9, comprises strips 15 of rubber &c. initially stretched and clamped at their ends across slots 14 in a plate 13. The strips may be of circular cross section having a diameter greater than the width of the slot which is formed with bevels 18, or of rectangular or trapezoidal cross section, in which case the strip coacts with the upper plane face of the plate 13. The valves may also be used as discharge valves in the pump.
