Abstract

742,322. Punching-machines. TIMSONS, Ltd., and TIMSON, E. A. April 30, 1954 [April 21, 1953], No. 10934/53. Class 31 (2). [Also in Groups XVI and XXXIV] The cylinder 1 of a punching-machine is mounted for axial adjustment in bearings 4, 5 slidably arranged in the side frame members 7, 9 of the machine. The bearing 4 is slidable in a recess 6a in a housing 6 secured in the frame member 7. The bearing 5 is secured to a housing 8 slidably arranged in a bore in the frame member 9. A rectangular plate 10 bolted at 12 to the flat end face of the housing has screw-threaded openings 13 to receive screwthreaded adjustment members 14 bearing on the face of the frame member 9 and axially bored to receive fixed studs 15. The ends of the members 14 have knurled hand-grip portions 14c for making the adjustment and they are locked in the adjusted position by nuts 16 on studs 15. In a modification, the studs 15, instead of entering threaded holes in the frame member 9, pass through the member 9 and are provided with heads on the inner side.
