Abstract
742,069. Extruding. SCHLOEMANN AKT.- GES. March 25, 1953 [April 9, 1952], No. 8206/53. Class 83 (4). An extrusion press for sheathing cables, particularly with aluminium, has a cable guiding tube 3 movable through the billet receiver 1 independently of the hollow press ram 2 and connected during the extrusion operation, with the mandrel holder 24. The tube 3 has a spigot end which makes sealing contact with a recess in the mandrel holder. The latter is rigidly connected by ribs 25 with the die holder 20 whereby the mandrel 22 and die 21 are held in a fixed relative position and variation in the thickness of the sheathing is prevented. The die is held in its holder by a screwed sleeve 23 and upon removal of the latter both the die and mandrel may be withdrawn forwardly. The die holder is held in position by a wedge 18. A dummy block 4 is provided on the ram.
