Class 123(1) Corrosion of iron or steel pipes, especially the heating pipes in the tanks of ships carrying sulphur containing crude oil, is prevented by securing on each of the upper sides of the pipes a, where corrosive solid material would otherwise deposit, a steel or iron shield d, the shields having depending lugs e to which are secured magnesium, &c., anodes f providing cathodic protection of the pipes and shields.
