Abstract
672,042. Anodes for preventing corrosion. MAGNESIUM ELEKTRON, Ltd. Jan 23, 1951 [Jan. 27, 1950], No. 2195/50. Class 123(i) In an anode for the cathodic protection of underground pipes &c. comprising a magnesium &c. element 10 surrounded by a backfill 17 of, e.g. a mixture of gypsum and bentonite enclosed within a fabric bag 16, the element 10 is prevented form riding up above the level of the backfill by a cardboard disc 18 which is apertured to provide for passage of a cable 13, connected to an iron rod 11 within said element, and is held down on top of the element, or a bitumen &c. filling 12a, by tapes 19 secured to the inside of the bag 16; one or more cardboard &c. rings 21 fitting the element and bag are also spaced along the element. The top of the bag is drawn tightly over the disc 18 and closed by a wire ring &c. 20.
