Abstract

<PICT:0740889/IV(c)/1> In a system for oiling textiles compressed air is employed for transferring the oil from a reservoir to the points at which the textiles are oiled. Figs. 1 and 2 show an apparatus for oiling wool in which compressed air from a com <PICT:0740889/IV(c)/2> pressor 12 is fed via a variable pressure transformer 14 to oil containers 17 so that oil is conveyed under pressure to the electrically heater thermostatically controlled chamber 23. The oil outlet pipe from heater 23 passes via filter 28 flow meter 29 and valves 30, 31 to two jets 36 located in the upper portion of conduit 35. The oil is vaporized at the jets 36 by the compressed air stream which is applied from line 37 and the wool is drawn through a horizontal suction hood 34 as described in Specification 740,902 by the action of a fan at the outlet and passes under a baffle 40 so that it becomes uniformly oiled by the discharge from jets 36. Additional air may be admitted via the adjustable flap 43. Valves are provided in the various branches of both the oil and air pipe lines so that used oil may be cleaned out from the pipes by the action of the compressed air when it is required to change the oil in the apparatus.
