Abstract

740,804. Toy vehicles. SEBEL & CO., Ltd., D. Feb. 12, 1951 [April 14, 1950], No. 3397/51. Divided out of 740,801. Class 132(3) A toy perambulator, push cart, or like toy vehicle provided with a sound emitting device has a mechanism for interconnecting the sound device and the ground engaging wheels of the vehicle whereby as the vehicle is moved along the ground the sound device may be actuated, manually operable means for actuating the sound device when the vehicle is stationary also being provided. A toy perambulator has on rear axle 6 a cam 27 which engages a roller 26 causing a rack and pinion 21, 20 to actuate a sound emitting device 16 which is rotated backwards and forwards. To operate the sound device when the perambulator is stationary, the handle 13 is rocked on pins 14 and a rack member 22 is actuated by links and levers 29, 30 connected to the handle 13. Disengagement of the sound device actuating mechanism is effected by moving the handle 13 forwardly and causing the member 22 to pivot such that the roller 26 is held clear of the cam 27. In a modification, Figs. 3 and 4 (not shown), the sound device is rotated from the rear axle by means of a pinion and gear. In a further modification, Figs. 5 and 6 (not shown), a cam which actuates a rack and pinion connected to the sound device is driven by a belt or chain from the rear axle of the perambulator. According to the Provisional Specification a seat portion of a toy perambulator may be caused to move vertically and to oscillate about its longitudinal axis and may be actuated by a ground engaging wheel or roller other than one of the supporting wheels of the perambulator.
