A jigging conveyer comprising a tube 10, Fig. 1, is supported by inclined flat or leafsprings 26, 28, on a rigid frame member 16 which is itself' supported by springs 44, 46 anchored to a base 54. The springs 44, 46 may be farther apart than the springs 26, 28, and may be vertical or parallel to the springs 26, 28 or disposed at any intermediate position. The frame 16 carries a horizontal motor-driven shaft 58 on which is mounted an unbalanced weight 60. The frequency of the impulses applied to the frame 16 is the same, or nearly the same, as the natural frequency of the tube 10 and springs 26, 28. The springs 44, 46 are substantially non-extensible and non-compressible in the direction of their length. In a modification, Fig. 3, the conveyer 100 is vibrated by balanced counterweights 110, 112 rotated in opposite directions by shafts 114, 116, the plane containing which is parallel to the springs 104. In a further modification, Fig. 7, the frame 172 is suspended from an overhead support 176 by springs 178 and supports the conveyer 170 through the medium of springs 174. Impulses are provided by oppositely rotating eccentric weights 180 which are rotated in a horizontal plane. In another modification the conveyer is suspended by springs which are clamped at intermediate points to the rigid frame member carrying the vibratory mechanism.
