Abstract

1333504 Vibrating conveyers REX CHAINBELT Inc 19 April 1971 [26 May 1970] 26727/71 Heading B8A A conveyer trough 21 in the form of a tube is supported on isolating springs 22 and vibrated longitudinally by a vibration generator 23 including a pair of motors 25 each with an eccentric weight 26. A number of dynamic vibration absorbers is spaced along the conveyer, each comprising a weight 29 supported on a coil spring attached to the trough 21 with its longitudinal axis normal to the desired path of vibration of the trough 21. The natural frequency of each absorber in the mode of vibration with the spring 30 acting as a cantilever is preferably not more than half the operating frequency of the conveyer. In the mode of vibration along the axis of the coil spring 30 the absorber is tuned so that its natural frequency is equal to that of the conveyer. With this condition of tuning the component of motion of the trough 21 along the axis of the spring 30 is practically eliminated, the motion of the trough 21 being limited to motion in a plane normal to the axis of the spring 30. In a modification, Fig. 3 (not shown), the coil springs 30 and weights 29 are placed by rubber shear block springs (45) clamped to a conveying trough (41) between legs (44) supporting a heavy cross member (48).
