Abstract
828,219. Vibratory mechanism. JOEST G.m.b.H. May 7, 1956 [May 5, 1955 (2)], No. 14021/56. Class 80 (4). [Also in Group XXX] Substantially uni-directional vibrations are imparted to a conveyer tube 1 by a pair of exciters 4, 5 fixed relatively to each other and having oppositely-rotating off-centre weights which are separately driven, the exciters being mounted so as to be able to vibrate in a plane containing their parallel axes for a short time until synchronism is automatically established solely by the inertia forces, thus avoiding the need for mechanical or electrical coupling between the two exciters. As shown, the tube 1 is supported on inclined lath springs 2 and the exciters 4, 5 are carried by a leaf-spring 6 augmented by a spring 8. In modifications the two exciters are rigidly attached to the tube or other member to be vibrated and the latter is supported on helical or other springs allowing both movements in the disired direction and transverse movements which persist until synchronism is established. In a construction providing for reversal of conveying a tube 41, Fig. 5, is vibrated by a pair of off-centre exciters 42, 43 to convey in direction B, and by a pair of exciters 44, 43 to convey in direction A. The exciters are mounted adjacent the centre of gravity of the tube. The exciter 43 is separately driven, while the exciters 42, 44 may have separate driving motors or a common motor selectively coupled to one or other exciter, according to the desired direction of conveying. In another construction a conveyer tube is vibrated elliptically by two oppositely-rotating off-centre exciters of different size and the conveying direction is reversed by reversing both exciters.
