Abstract
1,139,265. Jigging conveyer. STEPHENSADAMSON MFG. CO. 23 May, 1967, No. 23838/67. Heading B8A. [Also in Division F2] A resiliently supported feeder trough 12 is vibrated by eccentric weights 44, 46 driven by a motor 40 which is supported solely by a coil spring 32, the spring rate of which in the direction of its longitudinal axis is at least twice that in a direction transverse to the longitudinal axis. The direction of the longitudinal axis of the coil spring passes through the centre of gravity of the trough. A plurality of coil springs acting in parallel, and two motors each including eccentric masses rotatable in opposite directions, may be employed in place of the single motor and spring.. The motor or motors may be rotated from a position of maximum throw in which the rotational axis 42 of the eccentric masses is transverse to the longitudinal axis of the coil spring(s) to a position of minimum throw in which the axis 42 is parallel to the longitudinal axis of the spring(s). The system comprising the trough, coil spring and exciter means has a natural frequency in the direction of the longitudinal axis of the coil spring which is slightly above the r.p.m. of the motor.
