Abstract

802,972. Pneumatic conveyers; jigging conveyers. FULLER, CO. April 5, 1957, No. 11183/57. Class 78 (1). The conveying trough 5, Fig. 2, comprises channel-shaped members 6, 7 and a porous, or semi-permeable, deck 8 clamped between them. The trough is supported by resilient members 2 and is vibrated along a path 4, Fig. 1, by an electromagnetic vibrator, revolving eccentric weights or a motor-driven eccentric shaft 9 and connecting rod 10. The members 2 are mounted on a base 1 and may comprise rubber, or rubber-like, blocks with obliquely-disposed metal plates or rods 3 moulded therein, or they may be coil or leaf springs. Material is introduced through a hopper 15 which is connected to the trough by a flexible sock 16. Air, or other gas is forced into the plenum chamber 18 from a supply 19 through a pipe 17. The deck 8 is arranged at an angle to the horizontal between about - 5 degrees and about + 15 degrees. The angle of attack of the deck on the material is between about + 10 degrees and about +45 degrees with respect to the plane of the deck.
