Abstract
740,412. Bindings. SCHOFIELD, J. Aug. 23, 1954 [July 22, 1953], No. 20306/53. Class 141. [Also in Group XVII] A reinforcement for a handbag &c (see Group XVII), comprises a resilient member 18 enclosed within an extruded beading 6 of a flexible plastic material formed with a continuous longitudinal fin 7, which is sewn between juxtaposed parts 5, 8, of the bag. A strip of leather &c 13 may be folded over the juxtaposed edges and sewn as at 14. The member 18 may be a coiled wire spring and may be connected at its ends by a pin which is tapered towards each end, the joint being bound with leather &c. Alternatively, the ends of the beading 6 may be sealed together by high frequency electric heating.
