739,881. Free-wheels for bicycles. GAUTHEROT, C. April 28, 1954 [Jan. 7, 1954], No. 12316/54. Class 80 (2). In a free-wheel for a bicycle each pawl 10 is located in a radial aperture 1 <SP>3</SP> in a sleeve 1 mounted on bearings 7, 8, on a member 6 rigid with the wheel hub and having ratchet teeth 6<SP>3</SP>. Sprockets 2 ... 5 engage a screw-thread on the outer surface of the sleeve 1 and close the outer end of each aperture 1<SP>3</SP>. Springs 11 nesting in an armular groove in the sleeve 1 urge the pawls 10 into engagement with the ratchet teeth.
