Abstract
739,661. Electrically heated foot-warmers. PFAFF AKT.-GES., G. M. March 12, 1954 [March 18, 1953], No. 7182/54. Class 39 (3). A foot-warmer for a pivoted treadle of a pedal-operated machine, e.g. a sewing machine, comprises heating resistance wires 18 laid in grooves 7 in the body of the treadle 3 below a cover 8. The treadle carries a connecting rod 6 and is pivoted between end brackets 2 on a board 1 to which a supply cable is clamped at 10. The cable enters the treadle through a bushing on its underside and is secured therein by a clamp 13. In a modification, the treadle is of open lattice construction and an electric heater comprising resistance wires in grooves within a casing is supported against the underside of the treadle by lugs with inturned edges engaging opposite sides of the treadle, the lugs being attached by helical springs to the sides of the heater casing. A manual or foot-operated switch is provided.
