Pedal actuation; with compression resistances.-A foot-operated controller for the motor of an electrically driven sewing-machine includes a resistance unit 13 varied by movement of a longitudinally slidable bar 19 linked to a bell-crank lever 26 and thence through a connecting-rod 32 to a pedal 35. The pedal is hinged to the outside of a casing 1 which serves as a base and enclosure for the remaining parts of the controller. The resistance unit may be a compress able assemblage of carbon discs. Specification 301,237, [Class 112, Sewing &c.], is referred to.
