Abstract
739,574. Filing paper &c. RUBERY, OWEN & CO., Ltd. June 24, 1954, No. 18521/54. Class 146(1). Locking followers. A sheet metal filing drawer having a locking follower or compressor plate movable from back to front thereof along a tiebolt lying in a slot, has a longitudinally extending undercut slot along the bottom of the drawer which has a dovetail connection with a slide of the compressor plate. The drawer comprises side panels 11, 12, rear panel 13 and front panel (not shown) supporting a bottom panel 14 formed with a dovetail slot 15 in which a slide 16 is received, the slot 15 having undercut side walls 19, 20. The slide 16 comprises longitudinal portions 17, 18, to coact with the walls 19, 20, integrally connected by a bridge 22 at one end and a channel 23 at the other, the compressor plate 25 being welded to the bridge 22. The lower edges 17a, 18a and the channel 23 preferably are spaced from the floor 32 of the slot 15 to minimise jamming of the slide. The plate 25 has lugs 26 carrying a pin 27 on which is pivotally mounted a catch member 29 to engage the floor 32 of the slot 15 to lock the plate in position, a leaf spring 30 biasing the catch into engagement. The catch member has a central slot and the bridge 22 has downturned lugs 34 to straddle the tie-bolt (not shown).
