Abstract

739,418. Watches. PIQUEREZ, E. Feb. 9, 1954 [Nov. 2, 1953], No. 3757/54. Class 139. In a fluid-tight watch case the bottom is provided with at least two upstanding tongues extending in parallelism with the axis of the case and fitted on the inside of the case' band, said tongues including each an outer shoulder through which they engage, by means of a bayonet joint, a connecting member secured to the inside of the case band and including sections projecting inwardly of the latter, the angular distribution of the tongues on the case bottom corresponding with the angular distribution of the projecting sections of the connecting member. In the first embodiment the back 5, Figs. 1, 3, has two diametrically opposite upstanding tongues 5a each having a shoulder 5b. The case band and bezel 1 has an annular recess 3 in which is located a spring wire 4, Figs. 1 and 2, having two inwardly projecting sections 4a each of which co-operate with the shoulder 5b of the associated tongue 5a, in the manner of a bayonet joint, to lock the parts 1 and 5 together. The surfaces 6 of the shoulders 5b are made frusto-conical in shape so that the sections 4a exert an axial pressure on the back 5 to compress the packing 7. In the second embodiment the shoulders 11b, Fig. 5, of the upstanding tongues 11a of the back 11 co-operate with the inwardly projecting sections 8a Figs. 5 and 6 of a flat ring 8 located in an annular groove 9 of the case band and bezel 10.
