Abstract

739,113. Lenses. ZEISS-STIFTUNG, C., [trading as ZEISS, C., [Firm of]]. Aug. 4, 1953 [June 20, 1953], No. 21434/53. Class 97 (1). An afocal anamorphosing system for addition to a normal objective D on the longer conjugate side thereof comprises a positive cemented cylindrical doublet adjacent the objective and a negative cemented cylindrical doublet, the cylindrical axes being parallel, the two outer surfaces of each doublet being of' opposite sign, the cemented surface of the negative doublet having a positive power and being concave to the positive doublet, the cemented surface of the positive doublet having a negative power and being convex to the negative doublet, the outer radii of each doublet being of opposite sign, the refractive index difference at each cemented surface being greater than 0.1. Preferably the outer radii of each doublet differ by less than 20 per cent while the radii of the cemented surfaces preferably lie within 30 per cent and 60 per cent of the focal lengths of the respective doublets. Data are given for one example.
