Abstract
343,228. Tacheometric telescopes. WILSON, J. S. and TAYLOR, E. W., Buckingham Works, York. Dec. 9, 1929, No. 37780. [Class 97 (i).] The objective system of a tacheometric telescope, of the kind described in Specification 242,468, [Class 97 (i), Optical systems &c.], comprising a collective objective and a negative focussing lens of equal and opposite power, is corrected for curvature of field, cornea and astigmatism by selecting the powers and refractive indices of the various lenses so as to satisfy the Petzval condition. In the example given the achromatic objective A is a cemented doublet and the negative focussing lens B consists of two outer dispersive lenses and a central collective lens. The objective A and the focussing lens B are of equal and opposite power. The lens B is also achromatic. Specification 18721/12, [Class 97 (ii), Surveying &c. instruments] is referred to.
