Abstract

978, 797. Optical objectives; CARL ZEISS JENA VEB. June 11, 1963, No. 23229/63. Heading G2J. The six component objective has an angular field of more than 90 degrees and, f being the focal length of the objective, (a) a distance between back element and image at least 1. 8 f and a constructional length at most 2. 8 f, (b) elements 1, 2, 3 form a divergent group, each is a meniscus convex to the object, 1 is convergent and both 2 and 3 are divergent, (c) elements 4-10 form a convergent group the elements 4, 5 and 6, 7 respectively being of opposite refractive power and cemented together, 6, 7, is biconvex and convergent, 8, 9, 10, are cemented together and form a meniscus convex towards the image, 8 being divergent and 9 and 10 convergent, (d) 6, 7, has a focal length numerically smaller than f and the focal lengths of each of 4, 5 and 8-10 respectively are numerically at least 10 f. (e) the thickness d4 + d5 is at least equal to 0. 6 f and both r7 and r9 are numerically at least equal to 5 f. As shown r8, r11 and r14 are dispersive cemented surfaces convex towards the object wherein f > r8 > r11 > r14 > 0. 4 f and where n is the refractive index for the helium line d. Optical data are given for two examples.
