Abstract
738,436. Ironing-machines. HAWORTH, F. L. June 21, 1954 [June 29, 1953], No. 17919/53. Class 138 (2). A device for stripping articles from the roll j of a calendering or like machine comprises a fixed frame f secured to a member extending across the machine, a frame d pivoted to the fixed frame f, a tension-spring n exerting a toggle action between the frames and a member b pivoted to the frame d having one or more spring steel blades a secured to it which in the operative position of the toggle are flexed on the surface of the roll j to remove adhering articles k, or, if any article cannot be so removed to be moved by the article to throw the toggle into an inoperative position with the blades a clear of the roll j. The frame d may be limited in pivotal movement by stops such as by the screw r and abutment q. The pivoted ends of the blades a are connected to a guard plate m against which an adjustable stop formed by a bolt b<SP>1</SP> bears to alter pressure on the blades. A series of such devices may be secured in series to a channel-member g with tubular members g<SP>1</SP> at its ends adjustably mounted on brackets h.
