Abstract

738,398. Lawn-mowers. BISSET, J. L. Dec. 1, 1953 [Dec. 1, 1952], No. 30465/52. Class 6 (2). A rake for a lawn-mower comprises tines 33 fixed on a rod 31 mounted on a U-shaped holder 14, 15, 16 secured to a lawn-mower and springs 38, 39 for urging the free ends of the tines away from the cross-member 15 of the holder. As shown, the member 15 is hollow and carries L-shaped brackets 18, 20 which are secured by screws 21, 22. The bracket 18 carries grippers (not shown) and the bracket 20 carries adjustable clamps 27, 28 for securing the rake to a grass box 12 of a mower 10. The rod 31 is mounted in slots 29, 30 and movement of the rod is limited by a stop 37. In a modification for use on an electric lawn-mower provided with a rear grass-collecting box, the rod is non- rotatably mounted on the side arms and four sleeves rotatable on the rod each carry a series of tines. In a further modification for use on a mower provided with a grass box which is emptied by pivoting forwards, the forwardly extending arms are pivotally mounted on the cross-member.
