375,158. Reaping-machines. HARKNESS, J., Newfield Smithy, Ruthwell, By Annan, Dumfriesshire. Oct. 1, 1931, No. 27316. [Class 6 (iii).] A grain lifter comprises an arm A pivotally secured to a bracket B mounted on the knife bar of the reaping-machine. A steel point D of triangular shape in side elevation is pivoted at the front end of the arm and pivotally carries a guide arm E the rear part of which restsupon a rod F pivoted to the arm A and normally pulled forward by a spring G attached to the point D. A guide L covers the finger of the finger bar behind the lifter. The point D yields should it strike an obstruction and the arm F yields should it be struck by the reel.
