Abstract

738,333. Hydroplane craft. HOOK, C. July 9, 1954 [April 24, 1953], No. 11397/53. Class 113 (2). In a hydrofoil boat, the jockey arms 4 which carry feeler floats 5, struts 3 and hydrofoils 2 are adapted to be folded back along the boat to reduce draught. Mechanical correction between 4 and 2 is effected through the linkage 16, 11 and the movement of 2 with respect to 4 is varied by manual adjustment of fulcrum 18 from the control column 26 through the linkage 33, 34, 37, 20. Barking may be effected from 26. Movement of the arms 4 to the rest position, Fig. 2, is effected by removal of pin 24, which allows 21 and 4 to be moved inboard 9 rotated to engage the rest 40. Struts 3 are rotated clockwise about 8. Automatic control of the mechanical amplification between 5 and 2 may be automatically effected in accordance with engine speed and hydraulic transmission may be employed in place of linkage. Specification 572,179 is referred to.
