Abstract

738,082. Controlling furnace draught. FELL, C. A. May 22, 1953 [May 22, 1952], No. 13021/52. Class 51 (1). A regulator for a boiler damper comprises a damper-actuating lever 28 supported on an adjustable pivot 31 for pivotal movement by leveroperating means connected to and actuable by a heat-sensitive element, said pivot being associated with a calibrated member 34 whereby the effective position of said pivot is determined by manual setting of the calibrated member. As shown in Fig. 1, the pivot 31 is comprised by an eccentric portion of a shaft 30 upon which is mounted a hand-grip 34 having a calibrated dial thereon. The damper is connected by means of a chain 41 to the lever 28, the angular position of which lever may be varied by adjustment of a screw 32 mounted on the plunger 22 of a heat sensitive device. The heat sensitive device is mounted on the casing of the boiler and as the boiler temperature rises the plunger 22 moves upwardly, allowing the lever to pivot in a clockwise direction and causing the damper to close.
