Abstract

Ores containing copper oxide are treated with a water-soluble metal nitrite in preparation for froth flotation using frothers, sulphidizers and collectors for sulphide ores. Nitrites of ammonia, alkali metals, alkaline earth metals and magnesium may be used. As collectors and sulphidizers, phosphorus pentasulphide, potassium ethyl xanthate, thiocarbanilide and dithiophosphates may be used; as frothers, pine oil, cresylic acids and their derivatives and glycine compounds; as a conditioning agent hydrated lime; and as a sulphidizer sodium sulphide.
