Abstract

Copper sulphide is separated from a feed comprising heavy metal sulphides by froth flotation in the presence of a metal lignin sulphate. The lignin sulphate in amount up to 0.5 pound per ton may be that of sodium, potassium, ammonium, barium, calcium, or magnesium. A promoter e.g. xanthate, dithiophosphoric acid, or dithiophosphates and a frother e.g. pine oil are also present.
