Abstract

736,757. Road tank vehicles. DARHAM INDUSTRIES (LONDON), Ltd. Oct. 14, 1954 [Oct. 14, 1953], No. 28307/53. Class 108 (1). A road tank vehicle has a tank of elliptical section built up of sides 4, Fig. 2, providing downturned flanges 9 bent to form closed hollow beams, a plate 8, and a plate 5 having external flanges 6. Within the shell the tank is divided by bulkheads each composed of dished plates 12 and 13, Fig. 1, united to vertical channel girders 14 and braced by gussets 15. In Fig. 1, however, the bottom plate is modified to provide the flanges 9 which are angled at 10 to form angle girder longitudinals. The ends 1 are bowed and skirted at 2, and the rear end may slope vertically from top to bottom.
