Abstract
736,305. Heat-exchangers. SOC. LE CARBONE-LORRAINE. Oct. 22, 1952 [April 22, 1952], No. 10112/52. Class 64 (3). A heat-exchange device comprises a hollow body 70, preferably a cylinder of graphite, formed with two sets of passages 79, 80, and 82 arranged in the walls transversely to each other, each set 79, 80 being disposed between two adjacent sets 82 and the latter extending from the interior to the exterior of the body. The passages 79, 80 are connected together in pairs by passages 84 in a lower header plate 72, and at the upper ends communicate with passages 74, 75 respectively in an upper header 71. These passages communicate with inlet and outlet passages 19, 22 for one of the heat-exchange liquids. The tube 10, constituting the outer wall of the passage 19, may be provided with a pulley 29 and is secured to the cylinder 70 so that the latter can be rotated and, when immersed in the second heatexchange liquid, cause it to be forced centrifugally through the passages 82, thus ensuring circulation ; othei methods of effecting circulation may, however, be provided.
