Abstract
735,926. Double glazed units. PITTSBURGH PLATE GLASS CO. June 12, 1953 No. 16215/53. Class 56. The pore hole 14 of a double glazed unit is sealed by fusing therein a metal sleeve 23 having an internal screw thread engaged by a'screw plug 27 which is preferably coated with a plastic layer 29. The fusing of the sleeve in the pore is effected by applying a coating 25 of a comparatively low melting glass to the outside of the sleeve and then welding this in the pore. When the bore of the sleeve has been closed by the plug the whole may be covered by a layer 32 of a low melting metal.
