Abstract
735,818. Beet-washing apparatus. BAMMANN, H. July 20, 1953 [July 18, 1952], No. 20073/53. Class 82 (2). A beet-washing trough comprises a sand and stone interceptor, part of the trough 1 being formed with perforated side walls 11 and an open bottom, and arranged in a housing adapted to be filled with water up to the water level in the trough, the housing 20 being substantially wider than the trough. A conduit 7 provides an upward current of air or water to keep the beet floating whilst the sands and stones fall into the funnel 4. A weir 8 may be adjustable to close the bottom of the trough section. The perforated side walls 11 preferably each comprise two mutually slidable walls. An endless bucket conveyer 5 removes the stones.
