A conveyer belt 4 carries root crop and stones 5 under an obliquely set rotating shaft 1 carrying sets of leather &c. arms 2 divided to form fringes at their outer ends 8. The root crop 6 is flung sideways by the arms but the heavier stones 7 deflect the arms and continue on the belt together with useless small root crop small enough to be out of the orbit of the arms 2.
