735,096. Discharging shaft furnaces. RHEINISCH-WESTFALISCHE KALKWERK AKT.-GES., and CLAUS, A., [trading as MASCHINENFABRIK, A. CLAUS.]. Nov. 4, 1953 [Nov. 5, 1952], No. 30503/53. Class 51-(2). The base of a lime-kiln shaft is formed with apertures between the wall 1 and a conical air distributer 2, and below each aperture 3 is disposed a discharge device comprising an upper outwardly extending shoot 4 attached by a rigid stirrup 5 to a vibrator 6 and a lower inwardly extending shoot 7 connected to and vibrated from the shoot 4 by spring-loaded rods 8 feeding the discharged material to a bunker disposed below the shaft. The whole of the discharge devices, except for the vibrators 6, is enclosed by an airtight housing 10. The rate of discharge may be controlled by the speed of the vibrators or by adjusting the slope of the shoots.
