Abstract
A composition for application as a leaf feed dust or spray in an amount of a few pounds per acre to small grain crops comprises a plant hormone in a proportion sufficient to provide between one fifth and three fifths of a pound of acid equivalent of the hormone to an acre and the minor elements iron, copper, boron, manganese and zinc, and optionally also molybdenum and cobalt, in a proportion sufficient to supply deficiencies within the plants of the crop of said minor elements under the conditions of artificially stimulated growth produced by said hormone. The hormone may be a chlorine, bromine, iodine, methyl or nitro-substituted phenoxy monocarboxylic aliphatic acid or an ester, amide or salt thereof, for example a 2,4-dichlorophenoxy acid compound or a 2,4,5-tri-chlorophenoxy acid compound. The metal minor elements may be in the form of their sulphates and the boron may be in the form of borax. Other substances which may be present in the composition include sulphur, calcium cyanamide, phosphate fertilizer, potassium iodide and bromide, talc and attaclay.
